Jesus, who was in the very nature of God, did not try to grasp for equality with God but instead He left all the power, authority and glory of the Godhead to empty Himself (Philippians 2:5-8). He chose the nature of a servant willing to serve in perfect obedience. The Son of God became like a servant so that the prodigal sons who became slaves to sin could return home to their Father as sons and not servants.
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark10:45
He grew up as a poor man’s child, walked among us as a poor man. Yet those who knew Him, has known God. Those who have seen Him, has seen God. “I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me.” He had no possessions other than the clothes on His back. Yet He promised His disciples, mansions in His Father’s home.
Our salvation meant Jesus had to take up dual identities. He was the ancient of days and a new born baby helplessly lying in cattle feed and on the run from Herod. He was the alpha and omega, the only prophetic individual who was not governed or limited by time, yet He was denied in his own town, made unwelcome by his own people.
If you are a child of God, let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.
If you are a preacher, let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.
If you are a prophet, a worshipper, a teacher, a disciple, a missionary, an intercessor, let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.
There is no question of the authority Jesus carried. The storm quiets, the dead rise, the blind see, when He speaks. Yet, Jesus, the first born among us, came to serve. We have been made co-heirs to the Kingdom of God, carrying the authority of sonship. Yet we have been made sons so that through our ministry and life of service other lost sons may find the Father. Let our hearts also be tuned to service.
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve” !!
