When Jesus heard of the beheading of John the Baptist, He went away to be by Himself, in a deserted place. The people followed him on foot and He had compassion on them and He healed their sick (Mathew 14:12-14).

Verses like this is a goldmine for someone seeking to know Christ, the heart of Him. He felt emotion at the loss of John and He went away from the noisy, demanding and suffering crowds to deal with His own reaction to what happened to John, the fore runner of Christ in life and in death. He certainly went there to be in the presence of God, to lean on the strength of His Almighty Father. But when the crowds followed Him, the Son of God, chose to serve them and fill them over His own need. Then he goes a step further and feeds them a miracle.

When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.” But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”  And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”: Mathew 14:15.

The disciples could see only a hungry crowd and how ill equipped they were to meet the crowd’s needs. While Jesus spoke of mysteries of the kingdom of heaven and the heavenly Father. The disciples saw hunger, lack and grandiose promises and they wanted the situation to dissipate, without it rising to become a threat.

But Jesus simply leaned on the Father. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. (Mathew 14:18).

Galatians 2:20 (AKJV) says “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Born again believers are called to live in the resurrection. When you live in the resurrection, you don’t face troubles rather your troubles are facing Christ in you. We live in His victory. Victory does not imply the absence of enemies or conflict. Victory in Christ, is the absence of fear in the hour of conflict for we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us (Romans 8:37).

“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Christ calls us to renew our mind each day to the reality that we died and now He lives in us. So, let us keep mining for gold in the word of God. Keep pursuing the mysteries of Christ. Every new day, every trial, every obstacle that comes your way can be overcome by the faith of the son of God, if we allow our minds to accommodate the truth – Christ in Us the hope of Glory.
